In October of 2004 my civilian career was interrupted. My National Guard unit was called to active duty to serve in Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF III). I deployed as a Military Police machine-gunner, performing convoy escort missions. After a long and harrowing deployment, I was released from duty in January of 2006.
During my deployment, I kept in touch with my work team back at Arizona State University, and I continued to help out whenever possible by performing CAD and circuit design in support of several projects. Continuing to work on civilian projects kept my mind occupied during my down time, and made the transition back to work a lot easier upon my return. Please take a look at this article about my contributions.
